Zampogna
The Zampogna is an Italian bagpipe dating back to the Emporor Nero. The "Canzone di Zampogni" is the original Christmas Carol sung by the shepherds at the nativity of Christ and so it is traditionally associated with Christmas time. The set made by Brian includes special fruit woods and custom colored leather. It is an elegant set with 2 drones and 2 chanters. The sound is reminiscent of a mellow organ. The Zampogna has been in continuous cultural use for a long time due to its traditional Christmas association. A small oboe called ciramella or piffero, as well as drums, are used in consort with the zampogna. The zampogna is popular for tarentella's and traditional Christmas songs. The favorite playing pipe of the maker is the Gaita. These high spirited pipes come in traditional Gallacian red as well as plain.

Fine Art recreations. These pieces are made in the tradion of Robert Thomas Steeger's mentor and fellow maker who recreated several pipes. Avaliable as special fabrications only. Currently Steeger is working on his own recreation of tradional Welsh pipes which Bob started conceptually, but, never quite got to work. Recreations of museum pieces or documented pipes are possible. Contact the maker.
